A Couple Super Recipes For The Big Game

The big game is here in Minnesota, but it won't include our Vikings. We're fine thanks ... but here are a couple of amazing recipes for your Super Bowl party.

We can think of many comparisons about a recent Game That Shall Not Be Named and a certain upcoming large-scale event (don’t come for us, NFL legal team!), but none come close to former Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak’s tweet to sum it up.

That said, we understand if you’re rooting for zero teams during this year’s Big Game. We highly recommend muting the TV, drowning your taste buds in Double Take Salsa, and enjoying the heck out of the commercials.

Oh, and have some self-respect and stay away from the Philly Cheese Steaks. It’s too soon.

Game Over Guacamole

If you’d rather put salt in a recipe than have it continually rubbed in your wounds, our Aces & Eights Sweet Corn Salsa makes a mean guacamole – mix it with an avocado and live your best life.

Our recipe for the painfully-named Game Over Guacamole is below:

  • 1/2 jar Aces & Eights corn salsa
  • 2 medium ripe avocados
  • salt to taste

Tip: Kick it up a notch and add some Signature Hot Sauce

Whipped Eagles Egg Special

And because revenge is a dish best served hot (and petty), consider making a Sunday morning scramble with Double Take Salsa’s Machismo Medium. Call it the Whipped Eagles Egg Special. Or come up with your own name; we trust you to be creative.

  • 3 eggs
  • ¼ tsp kosher salt
  • 2 TBSP heavy whipping cream
  • 1 TBSP unsalted butter
  • ¼ C sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 TBSP chives (chopped)
  • ¼ jar Double Take Salsa Machismo Medium

How to make it:

Combine three eggs with 1/4 tsp kosher salt and 1 TBSP heavy whipping cream. Beat until large bubbles begin to form; this will ensure your end product remains light and fluffy.

Melt ½ - 1 TBSP unsalted butter in a large nonstick pan, then add egg mixture. Cook on medium-high heat, stirring continuously for 3-5 minutes.

Just before desired consistency is reached, add Double Take Salsa to pan, allowing to warm for a full minute.

To finish, sprinkle chives and cheese on top until melted.
